On Saturday, April 22, Chispa Arizona is hosting its third annual Earth Day Festival at El Reposo Park in South Phoenix. With music, food and activities for the whole family, Chispa Arizona aims to elevate and celebrate the fight for environmental justice in a vibrant and safe space.
Chispa Arizona believes the protection of Public Lands is vital to our environment’s health, public health and the quality of life of our community. They recognize that as the original caretakers of this land, indigenous communities and voices should be centered and elevated in these efforts. Chispa Arizona’s Earth Day Festival 2023 will feature speakers who will talk about the efforts to preserve sacred public lands like the Great Bend of the Gila, the Grand Canyon and Oak Flat; lands that have long been protected by indigenous communities. Chispa Arizona hopes that those who attend the event leave inspired to also be caretakers and protectors of the land.
Chispa Arizona works to build the capacity of Latinx families to influence policy makers, and pressure polluters to protect communities’ rights to clean air and water, healthy neighborhoods and a safe climate for generations to come.
