Why I Didn’t Call (#WIDC) is a campaign that engages the community with the hope of building solidarity around a shared vision of safety and abolition.
We aim to heal trauma. Policing does not prevent harm, it initiates, continues and furthers it.
We believe it is our duty to our communities to build better practices of safety within our organization, neighborhoods, and city.
What is it?
#WIDC is a combination of short surveys, story telling sessions and longer in-depth interviews throughout Phoenix to help build a shared understanding of why community members do not feel safe calling law enforcement.
We desire to hear from those who are most impacted by harmful policing tactics and a lack in public health resources
Through this campaign we aim to educate the community about the history of oppressive systems and empower them to recognize and stand up to police violence, neglect, and terror within their community
